While many people focus primarily on building muscle when they are creating their diet and fitness routine, the fact of the matter is that it is virtually impossible to truly tone up and get in shape without burning fat, and that can only be accomplished through the implementation of cardio workouts. While it is possible to incorporate enough cardio into your routine through such measures as aerobics routines, step workouts and even simple running, many people instead opt for the convenience and dependability of cardio fitness equipment in order to ensure that they are getting their heart rate up to necessary levels.
What to use?
If you are looking to add more cardio to your fitness routine, there are several different pieces of cardio fitness equipment that you can integrate into your workout. Among the most commonly used is the stationary or exercise bike, and many fitness buffs (both old and new) incorporate a spinning class or two into their regular workout. A spinning class is like an aerobics class on a stationary bike, led by an instructor to ensure that each student in the class is reaching their maximum cardio potential.
Another popular cardio fitness equipment option is the treadmill, and these staples of modern fitness can be found in virtually every public and private gym and health club in America. Treadmill technology varies widely, and depending on the age and/or quality of the treadmill in question, it may include such features as adjustable incline, widely varying speeds, heart and respiration monitors, and even totally luxury features such as water bottle holders and MP3 players and/or jacks.
Another top contender for most popular cardio fitness equipment is the stair stepper. These stationary machines duplicate the act of walking (or jogging) up the stairs. Some of the most features that are most commonly seen on stair steppers are such things as varying and easily adjustable resistance levels, heart rate and respiration monitors and even digital displays that show (fairly accurately) the number of calories your workout has burned. Most commercial models also features timers, as this is an easy way for gyms to keep people circulating amongst different machines and prevent bottlenecking.
Home or Commercial?
Depending on your fitness wants and needs, you may wish to invest in home quality cardio fitness equipment rather than paying for a potentially expensive gym membership. If you do opt to purchase equipment intended for home rather than commercial use, do not expect it to be of the same quality. Home equipment is not intended to withstand the rigors of commercial use.
